Total War Series

Post by :FI:TacticalS! » Fri Aug 11, 2006 5:16 pm

Maybe for the few folks who enjoy titles from the Total War series we deserve this thread. :D

Last week I purchased Total War Eras. This collection comes with all the games and their expansions. It also included Alexander that was originally only available as a commercial download. The bundle has a short documentary on the whole series with a little insight on the upcoming MTW2, plus a CD of music, art book and poster. Cool for fans.

I finished Alexander yesterday. Just played it on Normal/Normal as I felt rusty from TW gameplay. Liked the approach - no diplomacy just wipe out Persia and barbarians and conquer the map (which is smaller then RTW/BI). What I found to be a challenge, since I like to take my time, is that you are limited to 100 turns to accomplish your task. While I knew this I still almost took too much time messing around, and JUST finished the campaign in my very LAST turn. #-o Hoplites very powerful units. Some fun battles.

Thinking about MTW but seeing the graphics I have been spoiled with RTW/BI. If I can get past that I understand from Macca the gameplay is good.

Can't wait until MTW2 is released so I can officially confirm its unplayable on my machine.

:)

I have just been messing around with Alienware website and I customized a PC that would suit MTW2.

only $12k

I don't have any change...

Well.

Total War series is exceptional, compared to other RTS games out there. have you seen the cute little movies in Shogun? awesome, so funny. ninjas, etc. I wish there was a new Shogun in developement instead of MTW2....

I can tell you that the first release of Medieval Total War and its expansion , Viking invasion is really worth installing and playing. though the graphics are not as good as Rome TW offers, it still has a lot to make your jaw hit the floor. And you could start training for MTW2, which both of us will probably play on low settings in order to play the battles as RTS and not laggy turn-based stutter ;)

I loved to play as mighty Poland...Man ,at tha time we kicked butts over here. If that wasn not fot the Polish nobleman we wouldn't have lost so much...

So try to conquer Europe playing Poland. And beware, thre is Vatican....i don't like the guys ....

P.S. the baggers are not wiling to release Alexander in this part of the woods. next time I'll probably pick up English version from abroad.

I remember the movies from Shogun. They appeared every time when your ninja/geisha tried to assasinate some evil emperor. And they had different endings, based on if mission was succesful.

I hate the Vatican too Macca.I got excommuncated so many times they just forced me into conquering them  :D

Unfortunately they kept regenerating huge rebel armies.....dunno how but that was a major pain for me in MTW.Hope it isn't as bad in MTW2....thats if I can run the game ;)

Yes, the Vatican was overmodelled. Fortunately, in Europa Universalis , you can conquer them and not let them reborn from ashes:) curious about this MTW2 I am...
