Question regarding mirrors for Motorcycles

Post by Menace » Fri Jun 23, 2006 6:34 am

I am currently with the help of Keppoch getting my ride roadworthy. Unfortunately I sheared off the mirrors.

My question is: Are there any mirrors out there that will fit a 2004 Bonneville? I see the "Universal Fit" ones out there but they seem to be designed with a male fitting on the end (A-La Yamaha etc). The originals were female with a shim, rubber gasket and a machine screw on the other end of the controls to affix them. Doesn't really matter anyway, as I am getting bar end mirrors, in three weeks or so :( (I give'em about a week before I clip them off going through traffic :) )
Just wondering what the setup was like for Harleys. If it is the same, gives me a lot more choices for spares/salvage. Don't have a dealer nearby to go take a gander. I think I may be up poop creek without a paddle.

Oh yeah, bars are 1" Dont have the measurements for the top of the socket that the mirror goes into off of the top of my head.

The aftermarket seems to be exploding with Trumpet goodies now BTW, there is litteraly double what there was last year! Is this how Harley riders feel? :D

I'd appreciate the help, thanks guys.

The bar-end mirrors should be good!

I'm thinking of adding a wing mirror on my sidecar  along with an ammo box for tools and ballast :)

Post some pics when you have the Bonny shiny ;)

Shiny

I'd be happy for working and legal right now fen!

Clip ons and a neato flyscreen coming.

What I can't belive is the guys who relocate the ignition switch underneath the carbs! .-- - ..-.

Damage wasn't near what I'd thought it was. Must have been post crash depression. But I'll say one thing about the new Bonnies, everything on them is made of steel or aluminum ('cept for a few doo-dads). If I was riding a more modern style bike with all those plastic whachamacallits I really would have been screwed.

Those little "dental mirrors" are great for satisfying the legality issue. Can't see much out of them though.

Holy cow, those bar ends would dig a trench if you dropped at speed! Thanks Willie! I'll keep him in mind if I need more hardware tidbits.

He has one actually, on the mirrors page! Willie, There is only about three or four manufacturers for mirrors and shiny bits for the New Bonnies. Just a clarification in a couple of search engines could net him some orders.

Good-he gets more work

Bad- he might get too much work.

From what I see, his stuff looks tough as nails.

Skid plate for underneath the Mufflers on the bonnies might be a good idea for myself, if you drop thats where you take the hit. Too bad I'm so far away from his shop.

 If you knew Buck like I do, you'd understand. He's tougher than nails. ;)

He does everything to the max. If you decide to go that route, you won't be disappointed.

This is what I'm going to shoot for in the future.

But with the black engine case and a fly screen (black of course).

Like the Tank though, Might get a corbin single seat if I can muster the shekels to get it.

Too ambitious?

Actually I'm running the accessory racing mufflers right now, the exhaust pulse is quite loud, and will shake cars that come too close. :D
V-V-V-VARROOOOM! Not NEEN!, NEEN, NEEEEEEEN!
Look stock but have about twice the flow, way larger diameter air injector is gone, carbs re-jetted.
Kind of like the pea shooter look though, unassuming.

I'd recomend them to anybody who buys a new Triumph. "Off Road Use Only" Bah! With the stock ones, you couldn't hear the exhaust note over the valvetrain!

This has my engine casing and Gonzo loud pipes. Looks like a Speedmaster or America

Yup 2004, It's in Who dares but here it is again.

Looks like that now, but without the mirrors  . Still has chrome bag hangers, the grab rail, and sissy bar for the back(that got busted up, need to re-tap it some day). - going to take some flack with that one  , but it makes a nice place to lash stuff.

$800 dollar windscreen lasted 4 weeks. Didn't like it much anyway.
