Hi Noter,
I like the formation flying idea, though I am not sure if this can be done on a dedicated server platform. Having some invincible planes flying in formation might make it pretty funny for those not in the know, especially if they blow all their ammo trying to shoot them down.
And you are right, the whole idea behind an FI server is to have a place to go and see if anyone else from the squad is around to fly with.
You guys should really look into installing xfire, as that helps also. ( http://www.xfire.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

I'm enjoying UKD-2 at the moment, decent maps, not too laggy, not half as much bitching as on the no-cockpit servers. I would like a server with a bit more veriety plane-wise though.
An FI server sounds great, but there must be sheep, lots of sheep.

Had this idea (experimenting with map now)
Have Red and Blue bases for those that wish to dogfight.
also set up Emerald base for training.
That should keep everyone happy
(you can even say that this scenario is historically accurate)

Altogether 163 planes, english, American and German , crashed in Ireland during WWll. 607 crew members died, 223 survived. While the Germans remained interned many of the others were allowed to return home.

Love the Idea. If any of you have played Guild Wars, this is kind of like that.
You have a PvP area as well as training grounds which can both be active on the server.
I am really considering using IL2 Commander for the backend and Stats side, so I am not sure if this scenario would work out for that end.
Great Ideas, let's build on it.
Does anyone have any missions already?

Crappy server?!... just zipped around, and it is great fun. Love the FI base with all the planes and the guys around the camp fire. Is there anyway to make those into FI aircraft? Is is just a skin download?
Thanks Doc

Fantastic work Strange!
I only have time available in tiny bits throughout the week and an :FI: server would be great for me.
Thanks a heap mate!

Cant add skins to statics ( well not on a DF map anyway), also by making them Red or Blue anyone from the public side foolish enough to attack will get "friendly kills" (and -points).:FI:Noter wrote:Crappy server, just zipped around, and it is great fun. PS in coop mode you'll see Unka Fen riding his Cossack round the base
