The message I get is "bad CRC" and I get it for all dowload´s

I guess all the files you tried to download are corrupted. Maybe due to a virus?! Check your HDD for these buggers and other parasites. Use a b****y firewall before downloading any file. BTW, are there no other locations you can download these files?:FI:RULES wrote:The message I get is "bad CRC" and I get it for all dowload´s

Good luck, mate!

Assuming you've installed XP is bang up to date with SP2 and .NET updates.
if not try microsoft site.
Also worth checking you have all the protocols installed -
Control panel - network connections - properties

If it's a new system it could be based on the Nforce4 chipset and a lot of people reported corrupt downloads if they installed the Nvidia Network Access Manager and Nvidia Firewall software.
They've been bug-ridden since release and Nvidia have all but said that there will be no further development.
I've never installed them so I'm not sure if it's easy to uninstall them, you may have to remove all the Nvidia software and drivers from your system and re-install.
All the above is irrelevant if you don't have an Nforce chipset of course.

Ok, I´v got a Abit AN8 32X mobo and as far as I know it´s a Nforce 4 chippy...Will try to remove all Nvidia drivers to see if that helps...tnx m8´s and with the blessings of the windows god´s I might see you all tonight...

Glad you got your system working, nothing more frustrating than when your PC is acting funny.
You may need to install the System Management Bus Driver and Ethernet Driver for full functionality of all your components, but your system will function fine without the IDE Driver, Network Access Manager and Nvidia Firewall. All the options can be checked or unchecked during chipset driver installation.

Niveda vrs ATI?
And my thanks to you Mo too. I'm about to build a new PC myself and will be using a Nvida video card as everything I read on the internet and mags says it is the best, Iwouldn't know myself.
So I will also not install the stuff you mentioned.
Is the Nvida techcnology better performing in IL2 than ATI?
Do tell,
MicVic

I do hear that Nvidia has full support for Open GL and ATI only partial, but what would I know with my little ATI nonperfect radeon.

The drivers I mentioned are for the chipset attached to the motherboard, not for the graphics card. Do you know which motherboard you are getting and I'll let you know if it uses an Nvidia chipset?:FI:MikeVictor wrote:And my thanks to you Mo too. The Nvidia graphics cards seem to have the edge in terms of raw horsepower. Not sure about image quality (IQ) without a side-by-side comparison.

I prefer nVIDIA over ATI though both are good. Speaking of cards up to 6800 at least, based on my own experience and various benchmarks I have seen on the Internet, nVIDIA doesn't perform as well when increasing AA beyond 2-4X. Image Quality is also another area where ATI can perform better.
However, I find nVIDIA has the better features (shader technology) and most games seem to be designed with this chipset in mind.
