Attention Macca! Medieval 2: Total War

Post by :FI:TacticalS! » Mon Jan 23, 2006 7:21 pm

Have you been playing too much BF2 lately Macca? Can you still handle this RTS mate? ;)

Please computer just 1 more TW game and I'll let your specs succumb to old age. [-o<

"The grand campaign will span four and half centuries of history from the years 1080-1530. It begins with the golden age of chivalry and the crusades, spans the Mongol invasion and the invention of gunpowder, and ends with gun toting professional armies, the renaissance and the discovery of America."

"One of the key enhancements certainly involves the variation of troops within an army. Medieval 2 removes the clone armies you saw in previous Total War games; units instead are made up of soldiers that are individuals. Each model is now constructed from a variety of heads, bodies and limbs. The engine combines these together to make each man far more individual. On top of this there is also a great variety of shields and weapons too, so each soldier has character and each unit of men looks and behaves like a realistic group of soldiers. Armour and weapon upgrades are also evident when you look on your units in battle. This introduces a great deal of individuality to the soldiers and ramps up the realism and immersion of Medieval 2's epic battles."

OK after I finish my AOE3 campaign then I’m off to tackle another Barbarian Invasion faction to be ready for this sweet gem!

I can still take my old , rusty but trusty sword and bath it in enemy blood!!!

My armor is ready, polished, shining in the sun!

My devoted troops are standing ready for my command!

Europe, I'm coming!

And Aztecs - you better move to Alaska, coz I'm coming for you, too!

It looks sweet. I want it. Hope my puter will run it , as no upgrades are scheduled for this year....

P.S. I like the Zebra Riders most.

Indeed. What a great time period to explore! Methinks I will unite the Irish clans and march on Briton/England/British/Gurberly. Heck we have enough potatoes for our seige weapons!

Suppose to be released for Christmas 2006.

And put my perfect 1-0 record on the line?!

Of course mate. First though I would need to double-check that my setup is all patched up. I have only been playing BI and that was a month or so ago before AOEIII.

Let's make a "play date" (don't even Falcon, don't [-X ) for the middle of February if your studies allow for it. With some notice a Saturday afternoon my time would be cool methinks!

---

Personally I suspect our 6800 GT OC 256MB vid cards should still perform well for this series. It is my 1GB RDRAM that I believe will start causing me troubles. The most my Dell motherboard allows is 1.5GB, but very expensive to be mixing 'n matching RDRAM, especially nowadays. And no other forms of RAM don't work. :(

Ran across this issue in BF2, but with the right in-game and OS tweaking managed to enjoy a very attractive presentation of that stellar FPS. I trust it will be the same for this game, especially since it is based on the same core game engine (which is hopefully even more optimized and scaleable).

Curse you, tac and spooky for introducing me to RTW. RTR is pretty neat too.
Dawn of War is one of few games I still play also. Although I did re-install Far Cry recently. That was a shock. A ten buck game shouldn't look that good!

Last Man Standing 2.0 Doom 3 Co-Op. Nuff said. They removed the ragdoll (sill left it as an option) and made d3 scream on low end machines. Highly recomend it. Spooky and I were scaring the crap out of each other last night.

TW/BI made my personal top 4 demos for 05

Post by :FI:Sneaky_Russian » Sun Feb 26, 2006 8:04 pm

  • 1) Flat-out
    2)Barbarian Invasion
    3)Dungeon Seige ll
    4)Children of the Nile
AOE lll had too much storyline for my taste.prefer AOE Gold for what it is.

Now I reckon this is to the racing genre what IL2 is to flight sims, mad physics, damage models, rag doll drivers, interactive scenery...........
