Trojan warning!

Post by Sapper-FIN » Tue Feb 21, 2006 9:31 pm

Okay, i discovered a very stubborn Trojan.WIN32.VB.aia aka Virkel A from my computer... Every time i try to clean it with F-secure antivir program, it somehow copies itself... Maybe i´ve got better luck with removing it manually, tomorrow...

I read that it spreads via Windows Messenger (and guess who uses that damn program in our family? my GF, of course :x ) I´m not sure, if for example skins that i´ve made and e-mailed to some of you can be contaminated, (Or is the messenger the only way it spreads?) but i just thought that you should know...

And... sorry

Dammit, my GF is just gonna have to do without Messenger, from now on...

My 12-year daughter, after spending all day at school with her friends, jumps on the computer and chats with them via MSN.

Must have learnt this from her mother, who spends hours on the phone in the evening talking to the same couple of friends. I mean what is there to possibly talk about EVERY evening for hours?!

OK must get back to TeamSpeak now. ;)

You are so cruel, Rules

On the other hand, i could also remove, or better yet: somehow disable Messenger in my own system... Then when my GF asks what has happened to the Messenger, i could just reply "i dunno... it must have been the virus" :-k

Luckily, she doesn´t know anything about computers ;)

Well, it´s good to know that your computers are clean... But are you sure that your A/V-programs will scan the whole computer? every single file? You see, F-secure doesn´t scan, for example, system restore folder (where this particular virus lives)... There are somekind of function in it, which makes it to check the whole system, but i haven´t found it yet :?

I´m not exactly sure, does it spread in any other way, than using the Messenger, though...

Disable system restore prior to doing any anti virus scans.

Re-start it after the scan is complete. ;)

Just scanned my PC and it seems to be clear... :D

Knowing my PC though it will actually be riddled with the damn thing! ;)
