We sent some equipment from our "yard" South today. My maintenance section is on standby. I'm, about 300 miles from the coast.
Now they're saying we MIGHT get some rain.
Hasn't rained here in over 40 days. 102°F this afternoon. FFS!
She's a monster, that's for sure. Highways out of that part of the world are totally plugged. Takin folks 18 hours to do what usually takes 4 hours. NO hotel/motel rooms from here to Oklahoma City! It's a mess already and it hasn't even hit.

Looks like you´ll have to face some bottlenecks right now ... you don´t think that Rita will reach to your place, Willie? I hope it won´t ...:FI:WillieOFS wrote:She's a monster, that's for sure. Anyhow, ... good luck, folks! I think you´ll need it ...

Rita at this time is predicted to head east of my part of the state. As of a few minutes ago, they were saying that we may have only spotty rain and a bit of wind in the 30-40 mph range. In other words a normal day here.
It has rained on my house in 44 days now. I NEED some rain.
This part of TX is a powderkeg waiting to light up. The grass is brown, the trees are wilting and some are dying...... This is a bit unusual for this part of TX. We're down 9-10 inches from our average annual rainfall. Last year at this time we were up 25 inches over the average. Grass fires are a major concern at this time. We were hoping that that storm would bring us some much needed rain. Looks like it's going up through eastTx and west LA. Like that part of the country really needs it. SHe is also supposed to dump 4-5 more inches of water in the NO/ S LA area.

Willie,
Go through the 'pre huricane checklist' Store water, extra batteries, canned goods, top off all your vehicles; most of all beer and ice (its unthinkable to be in the dark, no AC, and no cold beer). Take care, keep your head down.

Ak!
My cat just flew by the window!
45-55kt gusts here and lots of rain.
Laplace had a tornado around noon,
about 1.5 miles away.
Still have power,
still have batteries,
still have beer!
Fal "no politics but what about that silly Dog thing?" con

Weather is lovely here in Fort Worth. No cats flying. Partly cloudy due to the outer bands. We might get a shower or two out of that thing. Beer is cold.
Fishin was GREAT last night. Bub caught a 3lb bass and we couldn't get him to shut up about it till he went to bed.
It was his very FIRST "big" fish.

The midget fish he's holding is a small "drum". They aren't good to eat in my opinion if they get much bigger than that.
