Finally! My first kill in my career - a C3 Cargo ship that earned me a couple of medals. Playing on 94% Realism. Had crippled the boat and should have at least calculated the solution myself. Next time, yes next time.
VAC worked wonderfully! Really adds to the fun being able to yell out the commands!
Off to rest and to think what upgrades I want.

More screenies ...
... of yesterdays session ...
A mine!
Crimson hit by (not so deep) depth charge!
Nice pattern ...
... of deployed depth charges
Macca´s close encounter with an American destroyer
After a slight collision with already mentioned destroyer
Tubes are open, Herr Kaleun!
Surfaced at the wrong time
Run, Macca! Run!
Poor submarine damage model - maybe amended with new patch?
Touch down for Macca´s destroyed sub ...
More to come (?) ...
Prost, Herr Kaleun!

Are you using the "sky mod" Gen? Looks like it. Very nice pics.
----------
Macca, my son, I did watch a little of that game you and Matt played last night, and well given the thousand ships you guys had, the unlimited ammo, fuel, etc, full automation, what's it like? Kinda like taking a MP-40 and unloading in a shallow barrel of fish perhaps?
Come on gentlemen, we're the Fightin' Irish - closed cockpits and almost full real. What happened to us? OK, I use the Weapon's Officer, but unlimited ammo?
[TacticalS! leaves the pulpit and sits down to glow in the realism of his campaign.]
----------
I will keep you in mind Dutch. Every night that I get the opportunity to game for an hour or two I play whatever strikes my fancy. Lately that's been SHIII. Did download the GFM patch - hopefully they won't be long in at least adding more custom maps. Then there's always R:TW or Normandy 1941 (IL-2). But will probably look you up for some online gaming. And Matt is usually around earlier in the evening.

Guys, it's my birthday tomorrow and I left some not-so-subtle hints with my family that should anyone find it difficult to decide upon a present for me, "there's a game called Silent Hunter III"...
...so I should be submerging with you guys soon!
Really looking forward to it now

TactS....It wasn't me who was hosting:):)
I didn't have time to practice high realism settings, my studies take all my free time during the day, exams coming and so on. In June I hope to have more time to do some training. And the torpedoes were reloaded too fast!

Introduction
A major new mod for SH3 is in the works. This one will be called the Operations mod. It's a new 'population' mod that creates a living world for the SH3 player, and which adds a ton of historical detail to the game. The new mod focuses on certain times and theatres of operations, creating content you're more likely to see, rather than adding some stuff here and there like Worldmod did.
This new mod is no picnic, and it might be hard, if not impossible to sneak into ports, as it was in real life! At least at 100% realism. It will be fully compatible with the Real U-boat mod and will be freeware. The team still has a lot of work to do, but work is progressing nicely on it.
[edit]
Features
* Improved and expanded theatres of operations. In the first release it will include Scandinavia, Britain and the Med.
* Many new ports and cities for every theatre.
* New shipping lanes for random traffic to and from the new ports.
* Additional cities on land visible on the map, showing the frontline by their colors.
* Naval operations based on historical events for each theatre (within the limits of the game engine, editor, etc).
* Ships in port.
* Nets and mines both in enemy and friendly ports.
* Enemy minefields even outside of ports, where they were historically, i.e. along the Norwegian coast in 1940.
[edit]
Team
Team members that are working on this mod are CCIP, Egan, Pentallion, Nico.
[edit]
Release schedule
The first release will probably hit the internet in a couple of weeks (this comment was posted on May 4th 2005).
